UAB will have its annual homecoming celebration the week of October 13 - 18. Exciting activities are planned throughout the week, capped off with the Green and White Gridiron Fight. Starting in October, Greencup Books will be featuring the works of new (and new to Birmingham) poets and writers. To get in on the action, submit one poem to mike@greencupbooks.org. Be prepared to read at least seven minutes. Greencup Books will feature between five and seven new readers per month. The first reading will be held on October 11, and hosted by Amethyst Vineyard. Greencup Books is located at 105 Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd. S., Birmingham, Ala., 35233. Greencup Books is a nonprofit community bookstore and publisher.
Don’t Hate Hotline: UAB’s Don’t Hate Hotline, 1-877-ERACISM, is an outlet for students in the classroom, housing, and on campus to voice concerns about discrimination, diversity and campus issues and personal rights violations.
UAB Blazer Bucks may now be used at Sterne Library for printing and copying, and Sterne Venda cards are being phased out. You can add Blazer Bucks to your CampusCard, employee ID or buy a Guest Card. As of September 1, UAB no longer adds money to your Sterne Venda Card, and patrons will need to use any funds on the Venda Card before December 31; those funds are not transferable to Blazer Bucks. You can add Blazer Bucks to your UAB CampusCard at the Value Transfer Station located near the Sterne Library circulation desk, or online at campuscard.uab.edu. Contact the Sterne Library Information/Reference desk at 934-6364 or the Circulation desk at 934-4338 for more details.
UAB students, faculty and staff are reminded that no firearms, ammunition, or dangerous weapons are allowed in university buildings, parking decks or any other facilities at any time. A gun permit does not authorize you to bring a firearm onto UAB property under any circumstances. This includes guns in parked cars.
