Why can't I find any articles in the library catalog?

The library catalog contains records for books, journals, online resources, theses, videos/DVDs, etc. Titles for individual articles, however, are not including in the catalog. This means that while you are able to determine that the library has access to a particular journal or magazine, you will not be able to use the catalog to see the articles in each issue.

To locate articles, you will need to search in different databases depending on your topic. The following are good starting points:

  • For medical research articles: use PubMed or Scopus
  • For nursing or allied health articles: use CINAHL
  • For consumer health articles: use MedlinePlus

A full list of the library's databases are listed on the Databases page.

Take a look at the LHL Guide on Getting Started: Finding Scholarly Articles.
