HISTORICAL COLLECTIONS CATALOGER JOINS LHL FACULTY

Ellen Griffin, MLIS, MA, joined the Lister Hill faculty as the Historical Collections Cataloger on January 1, 2000.  Ellen received her MLIS from the University of Alabama in 1999 and her MA in History from UAB in 1996.  She also completed the Rare Book Cataloging course at Rare Book School at the University of Virginia in 1999.
Ellen has been employed at Lister Hill as a cataloging library assistant for more than 5 years and has been involved in several web development and design projects.
In her new role in Collection Management as Historical Collections Cataloger, Ellen will be primarily cataloging materials from the Reynolds Historical Library.  The core collection includes 16th, 17th and 18th century medical books, early North American medical imprints, and a developing Civil War medicine collection.  The library also houses a small collection of incunabula (pre-1501 imprints) and a manuscript collection.  In addition to the Reynolds Library,  Historical Collections also includes the UAB Archives and the Alabama Museum of the Health Sciences.
Lister Hill Library is pleased to welcome Ellen as a new librarian!
