July/August 1997Web Medline Demonstrations AvailableLister Hill Library is currently providing the UAB faculty, staff and students access to a number of online bibliographic databases and full-text journals. Different access options are available both within the library and remotely from home or office. The latest access option is via popular World Wide Web browsers such as Netscape. Because Web browsers are so prevalent, the Web interface provides easy access and markedly reduces the training, documentation, and support requirements necessary to run and use a database system. To familiarize our online users with the new Web access, the library is currently issuing a series of Web interface guides. These guides are being distributed as inserts in the library's newsletter and are also available at the library and electronically via Lister Hill Library's home page. In addition, library staff are available to give World Wide Web library database demonstrations to your department, class or group. To make arrangements for a demonstration, please call Sondra Pfeiffer, 934-2231. . |
