Visit the Lister Hill Library during October for National Medical Librarians Month. Stop by the library on Fridays at noon for a break from studying to play Guitar Hero (10/2 & 10/16) or Wii (10/9 & 10/23). Challenge your classmate to a tennis match on the Wii or chat with your school liaison while playing guitar for Aerosmith. Liaisons will be visiting selected schools with the popcorn machine throughout the month so be sure to find out when popcorn will be popped at your school.
Get a quick refresher on key library resources by attending Express Training @ LHL throughout the month (and beyond). Hands-on classes on PubMed (10/1), Citing Sources (10/8), CINAHL (10/15), EndNote Web (10/22), and Web of Science (10/29) will take place in the Electronic Classroom each Thursday at noon. You’re welcome to bring a brown bag lunch and we’ll provide fruit and water.
Attend the grand opening of the new Student Lounge on Tuesday, October 27th at noon. See how we’ve transformed the ground floor copy room into a new gathering place for students. We’ve added comfortable seating, tables and chairs, and a microwave to make this space more useful and inviting for students. With only limited funding, we were able to make use of materials from the UAB warehouse or other donated or reclaimed furnishings to create a space where students can study together, heat up food, or share a meal. Stop by the grand opening on the 27th and see how we’ve “designed on a dime.”
