November 1st marked the third anniversary of The Kirklin Clinic Patient Resource Library, a unique collaboration between the Lister Hill Library, UAB’s Comprehensive Cancer Center, and The Kirklin Clinic, to provide patients and families with trusted health information at the point of care.
In the first 3 years, the library was open 8:3am-4:30 pm for 754 days. Six Lister Hill Library librarians provide coverage for 20 hours per week, and two Cancer Center staff provide coverage for 20 hours per week. Here’s a snapshot of the library’s activity over the last three years:
The library has also become home to the American Cancer Society’s Patient Navigator program, and library staff facilitate enrolling patients in the Patient Portal, a system for secure online communication between physicians at TKC and their patients.
Thanks to all who continue to make the TKC PRL a wonderful success story!
