Express Training @ LHL Spring 2012 Schedule

Need to hone your library skills or want to learn something new? This Spring drop in to Express Training @ LHL for a quick session on Thursdays at noon in the Electronic Classroom on the ground floor of Lister Hill Library. The classes feature focused training with plenty of hands-on exercises and time for your questions. Bring a (non-messy) brown bag lunch if you like; Lister Hill will provide snacks and drinks. Feb. 9	EndNote Web	Did you know that all UAB students/employees have FREE access to EndNote Web? Come learn how to use this web-based tool to create and manage a personal library of citations, insert those citations into a Word document, and format them in specific bibliographic styles. Please note: If you are a researcher or faculty member with a purchased copy of the desktop version of EndNote, you may wish to attend one of our EndNote software sessions.
Feb. 16	Google Scholar	Search the scholarly literature across multiple disciplines and sources. Learn to link to full text when available.
Feb. 23	Finding Full Text	Have a citation and want to get the full text of the article? Learn how to get full text using PubMed, UAB Article Linker, and ILLiad.
March 1	APA	Learn the basics of APA style as well as more complicated citation formats like e-journal articles, electronic book chapters, and web pages.
March 8	PubMed	Learn strategies to focus your PubMed searches and explore advanced techniques including searching with medical subject headings.
March 15	Mobile Medical Apps	Learn about iOS and Android mobile medical apps for clinicians, students, and communicating with patients.

March 29	Cochrane	Use the Cochrane Library to find Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) reviews and economic impact of treatment modalities.

Learn how to use EndNote X5 software to create and manage a personal library of citations and help you find full text. Also learn how to insert those citations into a Word document and format them in specific bibliographic styles. Please note: This session is for the desktop version of EndNote, which is NOT free to UAB students/employees. If you want to learn to use the version of EndNote that is free to UAB students/employees (EndNote Web), you should attend one of our EndNote Web sessions.
