WiseMD: New Database for Surgical Education
WiseMD, or the Web Initiative for Surgical Education, is a series of web-based modules for surgery education. The site is designed to teach students the clinical presentation, work up, surgical care, and post-operative management of common surgical illnesses.
Seventeen modules are currently available on the following topics:
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms
- Adrenal Adenoma
- Anorectal Disease
- Appendicitis
- Bariatric Surgery and Obesity
- Bowel Obstruction
- Breast Cancer Surgery
- Carotid Stenosis
- Cholecystitis
- Colon Cancer
- Diverticulitis
- Hernia
- Hypercalcemia
- Pediatric Surgery: Hernia & Hydrocele
- Skin Cancer
- Thyroid Nodule
- Trauma Resuscitation
Access WiseMD from the Databases page with your Blazer ID and password. Once you get to the WiseMD site, you'll need to create an account using your UAB email address. If you've already created an account to access CLIPP, fmCASES, or SIMPLE, you can use the same account.
