Journals“Can I get full text journal articles from home?” “What journals are available?” “Where are the journals?” Those are some of the most common questions we are asked. Can I get full text journal articles from home? YES! You can follow links to the full text articles from within a number of our databases (more information below) or you can use this list of electronic journals if you already know the exact citation you need. Please note that it is important for you to go to these databases and journal websites through the library's webpage so that you will be properly identified as a valid UAB user. If you are not current UAB faculty, staff or student, you can use the library collections in the library building, ask for a limited amount of consumer information on a topic, or order a specific article through our interlibrary loan service for a fee, but the library is legally prevented from giving you remote access to our licensed databases and journals. Links to some free sources of information are highlighted at: http://www.uab.edu/lister/freeinfo.htm Lister Hill Library offers journals several ways:
Use the Library Catalog to find BOTH print and electronic journals For Electronic journals – see the List of Online Journals (under QuickLinks on the web page) NEW! See a short animated tutorial of how this list works For Print – see the Catalog link on the website or go to http://catalog.lhl.uab.edu/
Physical Arrangement of the Print Journals: Within Lister Hill Library, the journals are physically on the two lower floors. The journals are arranged alphabetically on each floor. There are three A-Z sequences of journals: 1. Current Display (SW corner of the Ground floor) for the most current volume of each title currently received in print. 2. Ground floor has ALL journals titled A-Z published 1995 to present 3. Basement floor has Journals titles A-Z published prior to 1995.
