The Computer Commons is the area comprising our public computer workstations.  Currently, the LRC provides 50 computer systems for use on a first come, first served basis.  These computers are Pentium class machines providing access to a host of computer applications.  Applications include:
  • Microsoft Office suite - Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Publisher, and Photo Editor
  • Statistical analyses - SAS and PASW/SPS
  • Clinical simulations, tutorials, and case studies
  • Interactive applications on DVD and CD-ROM
  • Web access - via Internet Explorer
  • Licensure exam reviews, nutritional analyses, and more.
All printing from these computers is routed to network printers in the area, and there is a nominal cost per page. A printing station is equipped with a touch screen monitor and card reader.

To print, the LRC uses your Blazer Bucks / Campus Card. Adding funds to your Campus Card is easy. Simply click on the following link: campuscard.uab.edu
