OraQuick Volunteer Counselors are trained to provide HIV testing and counseling at the 1917 Clinic and in the community using the OraQuick Advance Rapid Antibody Test and under the supervision of 1917 Clinic staff. The training provides a comprehensive overview of administering the test, providing culturally competent risk assessment and relevant counseling, HIV 101, and practice skills. Following training, interested volunteers will be able to shadow testing in the clinic or community and will be individaully assessed for competency. All volunteers who are not 1917 staff must complete the normal volunteer application prior to shadowing.Next Training. This training provides a comprehensive overview of administering the test, providing relevant counseling, HIV 101, and practice skills. this session will also cover 1917 Clinic specific protocols. This session is intended for individuals who have never completed OraQuick training before and want to become testing and counseling volunteers with the 1917 Clinic. Individuals who want at refresher are also encouraged to attend.
Social Work CEs will be provided (3.5 hours) after completing an online evaluation.
