The 1917 Dental Clinic began seeing patients in March 1995. The Dental Clinic is state-of-the-art, offering a wide range of dental services to persons with HIV and AIDS. Proper dental care should be an integral part of your health plan. The 1917 Dental Clinic’s mission is to provide you with compassionate and professional care.

Location: The Dental Clinic is located on the second floor of the Community Care Building, across the hall from the 1917 Clinic waiting area.

Services Offered

Routine cleaning, fillings, crowns and bridges, minor oral surgery, periodontal therapy, soft tissue diagnosis and treatment, complete dentures, partial dentures, and root canals.

Appointments

Appointments can be made by calling (205) 975-9842 during regular office hours. The Dental Clinic will only accept patients infected with HIV who are also patients of the 1917 Clinic.

Payments and Insurance

The Dental Clinic operates on a Fee for Service basis. This means the Clinic will expect payment at the time of service. A monthly payment plan can be arranged, but it must be coordinated in advance by your Social Worker. Dental Insurance is accepted and will be filed by the Dental Clinic. Any required co-payments must be made at time of service. Please be aware that Medicaid and Medicare will not cover dental procedures.

An affordable monthly payment can be set up for everyone.

The Dental Clinic exists as a result of the combined efforts of UAB’s Department of Medicine, the School of Medicine and the School of Dentistry.

The 1917 Dental Clinic is one of the few service, teaching and research clinics of its kind in the United States.
