2013ReviewCourseRegistration is now open for the 2013 Annual Anesthesiology Review Course!

The 2013 course will be held Friday, February 15 - 17, 2013, at the Embassy Suites Birmingham-Hoover, 2960 John Hawkins Parkway, Birmingham, Alabama.*

New to the 2013 Review Course is an optional workshop day on Friday, February 15, 2013. Four workshops will be offered.  Seating is limited, so please register early. 

  • Ultrasound Guided Regional Blocks: Upper and Lower Extremity Blocks
  • Ultrasound Guided Epidural Catheter Placement
  • Adult Simulation
  • Pediatric Simulation 

The department is also pleased to host the 2nd Annual Anesthesiology Alumni Reception on Saturday, February 16, from 6:30 - 9:00pm at Vestavia Country Club.  Formal invitations to be sent in January 2013.

Learning Objectives

  • Upon completion of the UAB Annual Anesthesiology Review Course 2013, the participants will be able to:
  • Demonstrate the knowledge necessary to manage the complex diagnosis and treatment of malignant hyperthermia.
  • Utilize new regulations from the American Board of Anesthesiology to assure their lifelong learning objectives for Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesia.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the ongoing recognition and treatment of peripartum coagulopathies.
  • Adopt the latest recommendations on anticoagulation and neuraxial anesthesia.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of perioperative acute kidney injury and its treatment.
  • Adopt the latest recommendations for infection control in the operating room.
  • Utilize the most recent recommendations for transfusion therapy in the pediatric patient population.
