Dr. Ness is the Simon Gelman Endowed Professor in the UAB Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine.
As a member of the Division of Pain Medicine, Dr. Ness specializes in the treatment of urologic-gastroenterologic pain. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Ness has an extensive research portfolio focusing on multiple aspects of pain research, including the mechanisms of urologic-gastroenterologic pain, pain sensation related to exposure to toxic inhalants, and spinal cord injury.
He is a founding member and Co-Director of ADAPT (Alliance for the Development and Advancement of Pain Treatment) at UAB.
