Epidemiology, Outcomes and Prevention Print E-mail
Leveraging the strengths in the Schools of Public Health and Medicine, the Epidemiology, Outcomes and Prevention thematic workgroup highlights a diverse portfolio of research efforts underway in the immunologic, osteoarthritis, and autoimmune conditions.  Among these studies are initiatives to define the disease diathesis and epidemiologic basis of autoimmune conditions such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis (Brown, Arnett, Aslibekyan, Bridges, Howard, McGwin) as well as immunologic conditions of the mucosa (Elson, Stoll, Weaver).  Additionally, investigators are exploring means to improve safety and effectiveness of musculoskeletal therapeutics through that address the programmatic areas of comparative effectiveness research, tool development, health systems interventions and translating research into practice (Saag, Curtis, Kilgore).  By extension, these programs intend to develop strategies to educate health care practitioners, patients, caregivers, pavers, and policy makers.
