COCD/CCTS Pilot Program Print E-mail

The CCTS Pilot Program, the Translational Research Intramural Grant Program, is a partnership between the CCTS and the Council of Center Directors (COCD).  The goal of the program is to develop investigator-initiated pilot projects with a focus on creating new interdisciplinary clinical and translational research projects at UAB in order to grow mature research programs in these areas. The Comprehensive Arthritis, Musculoskeletal and Autoimmunity Center is pleased to partner with the CCTS to co-sponsor applications on an annual basis.

A two-step proposal process includes a pre-proposal application with selected applicants invited to submit full applications.  A request for applications is announced each Fall with new awards made early the following Spring.

In 2012, six $60,000 one-year awards were made, from a total of 50 applications. Included in this portfolio is the CAMAC-sponsored project spearhead by Dr. Diane Bimczok entitled “Failure of apoptotic cell clearance in human H. pylori infection contributes to chronic gastric inflammation and autoimmunity.”
