|
The members of this internationally acclaimed section include very active clinical electro-physiologists, working with a multidisciplinary group of basic scientists from within the Division, and from other Departments at UAB (primarily biomedical engineering). The section provides extensive diagnostic and therapeutic care to patients with all types of complex arrhythmias, including pioneer work in the ablation of atrial fibrillation.

ECG Conference Fridays, 7 AM (weekly) Lyons-Harrison Research Building (LHRB) 302
The arrhythmia faculty directs a weekly conference on ECG interpretation. The conference is attended by Cardiology Fellows, EP subspecialty fellows. Internal Medicine Residents on cardiology rotations or with special interest in cardiology are encouraged to attend as are medical students assigned to cardiology rotations. Topics of advanced interpretation beyond that provided in internal medicine training are highlighted by surface 12-lead ECG’s and intra-cardiac electrograms brought to each conference by Cardiology Fellows, EP subspecialty fellows, and the arrhythmia faculty. At intervals, “ECG tests” with a format similar to the Cardiology Boards are given to provide the residents with additional feedback about their strengths and weaknesses in ECG interpretation.
