The General Cardiology Consult Service evaluates and provides emergency procedures for cardiac patients in the Emergency Department. These cardiologists determine which patients should be admitted to the hospital and to what ward or critical care unit. |

Central Telemetry Monitoring

UAB has a central telemetry monitoring system that provides continuous electrocardiogram (EKG) monitoring of a patient's heart. It records shows the electrical activity of the heart, and immediately alerts nurses and physicians to all life-threatening patterns and arrhythmias. |
