Preoperative use of antiplatelet therapy and critical care cardiology

Dr. Sasse joined UAB in March 2012 as an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Disease.  He completed his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry in Rochester, New York in 1994 followed by an Internal Medicine Fellowship at the University of Rochester in 1997.    Dr. Sasse completed both a Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship (2004) and an Interventional Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship at Rush University Medical Center (2005) in Chicago, IL.  He is a member of the American Heart Association (2011 – present), the American College of Physicians (1996 – present), and the American College of Cardiology (2005 – present).  Dr. Sasse serves on several councils and committees including the Ambulatory Cardiac Surgery Committee (2012 – present), the Cardiology Information System Steering Committee (2010 – present), the Central line associated blood stream infection committee (2010 – present), and the Material Management Committee, VA Catheterization Lab (2010 – present).  His area of research interest is preoperative use of antiplatelet therapy and critical care cardiology.
