Essential Skills
|
- Select the appropriate clinical protocol based on the specific clinical status of a patient
- Be thoroughly familiar with:
- interpretation of 12-lead ECG’s
- exercise data during stress testing
- Discuss and apply the fundamentals of nuclear cardiology imaging, including:
- nuclear physics
- imaging instrumentation
- computer processing
- Demonstrate the proper procedure for radioactive materials handling including:
- radiation safety
- radiopharmaceuticals administration
- radioactive materials assay
- Perform the basic aspects of image interpretation including:
- image quality assessment
- artifact recognition
- integrating clinical and imaging data
- differentiation of normal, ischemic and infarcted myocardium by perfusion studies
- ventricular function assessment

Educational Outcomes
|
Cardiologists successfully completing this rotation will be proficient in:
- Selecting the appropriate clinical protocol based on the specific clinical status of a patient.
- Interpreting 12-lead ECG’s and exercise data during stress testing.
- Discussing and applying the fundamentals of nuclear physics, imaging instrumentation, and computer processing pertaining to nuclear cardiology imaging.
- Demonstrating the proper procedure for radioactive materials handling including: radiation safety, radiopharmaceuticals administration, and radioactive materials assay.
- Performing the basic aspects of image interpretation.
