Arrhythmia Service Rotation

	This electrophysiology rotation is designed to provide the Cardiology Fellow with expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of all common cardiac arrhythmias. H. Thomas McElderry, MD, Director

Locations	Electrophysiology (EP) Laboratory University Hospital H. Thomas McElderry, MD, Director Electrophysiology (EP) Laboratory Birmingham VA Medical Center Vance Plumb, MD, Director Also throughout the hospitals, including the CCU and other intensive care unit settings.

Duration	2 months

Patient Population	People with cardiac arrhythmias requiring invasive and/or noninvasive interventions

Clinical Responsibilities	Assessing cardiac arrhythmias using noninvasive methods Evaluating patients before and after EP procedures Implanting permanent pacemakers and Internal Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) devices Assisting in a wide range of EP studies Understanding the requirements of antiarrhythmic drug therapy Participating inpatient arrhythmia consultations
