The UAB Division of Cardiovascular Disease participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) for sub-specialty fellowships. Applications are accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Applications are reviewed in December and invitations for interviews extended from March to April of each year. Education |
At the time of application, applicants must be enrolled in or have completed an ACGME accredited Internal Medicine training program. |

Language Requirements |
Excellent command of the English language is mandatory. USMLE scores and in-training exam scores will be considered. |
Research Experience |
Research experience prior to or during Internal Medicine Residency is desirable. |

International Medical Graduates |
In order to eligible for enrollment, graduates must be enrolled in or have completed an ACGME accredited Internal Medicine training program at the time of application. |
Citizenship |
Applicants who are not US-citizens or permanent residents, must be eligible for J-1 or H-1 visas for the duration of training. |

Fellowship Matching Program |
The UAB Cardiovascular Fellowship Program participates in the National Residency Matching Program.

Interviews |

At the time of the interview, candidates will be provided with information about program policies and procedures, salary and benefits, and will receive a sample contract for review. |

Enrollment Requirements |

Certification |
Applicants accepted into the Fellowship Program must be board-eligible or board-certified in Internal Medicine. |
Licensing |
Applicants must obtain an Alabama Medical License before being officially enrolled in the Fellowship Program.

Degree Options |
Applicants interested primarily in clinical research careers have the opportunity to obtain a Master of Science in Clinical Research from the UAB School of Public Health, but funding is not guaranteed. |
