CDIB IT: Connecting to the CDIB Color Copier, MCLM 306 (Windows)

Note: the following directions are for Windows XP and Windows 7.  Although Windows 8 has not yet been certified for UAB campus use, the Xerox driver is compatible with Windows 8, and should work if you have a personal laptop running Windows 8.

Please NOTE: Installing the printer is a two step process; please be sure you complete all of the instructions on this page, or the printer will NOT work!  (Shortcut to step 2)

STEP 1: INSTALL THE PRINTER

 

Download the installer by clicking this link:
Xerox WorkCentre 7530 (Windows XP/7/8)

This will download a file called "setup.exe" to your computer. When the download is complete, double-click this file.

ss1 If you see a Windows security warning, click "Run."
ss2 Click "I agree" on the license screen.
ss3 On the printer discovery screen, click the manual address icon at top right.
ss4 In the "IP Address or DNS Name" box, type the copier's IP address: 138.26.40.230 and click "Search."
ss5 If asked for the printer model, choose "Xerox Workcentre 7530" and click Install.
ss6 On the installation options screen, leave the Postscript driver selected, and uncheck the box for "Enable Xerox Scan Utility," as we don't use that option.  Click Install.
ss7 Allow the installation files to download and the process to complete. Click "Allow" or "Yes" at any Windows prompts.
ss8 On the final installation screen, uncheck the options for "Set as Default" and "Print Test Page."  Click Finish.

Close the Xerox Registration screen when it appears, and then click "Exit Registration."

Now, continue with step 2 below.

STEP 2: SET UP YOUR ACCOUNTING CODE
ss10 Open your Printers list by clicking Start button >> Devices and Printers (Windows 7) or Start >> Settings >> Printers and Faxes (Windows XP).

Right-click the Xerox WorkCentre 7530 and choose "Printer Properties" (Windows 7) or "Properties" (Windows XP).

In the Properties box, click the Configuration tab.

In the Configuration tab, click the Accounting button at the bottom.
ss11 In the Accounting box, pull down the Accounting System menu and choose "Xerox Standard Accounting or Auditron."  Leave all other options as the default, and click OK, then OK again to close the printer properties.

When printing a document to this printer, you'll see a popup box asking for a UserID.  Enter your 6-digit copy code and click OK.  Documents will NOT print if a correct code is not entered.
