CDIB IT: Connecting to the CDIB B/W Copiers (MCLM 681, MCLM 978, THT 934) - Windows

Note: the following directions are for Windows XP and Windows 7.  Although Windows 8 has not yet been certified for UAB campus use, the Xerox driver is compatible with Windows 8, and should work if you have a personal laptop running Windows 8.

Please NOTE: Installing the printer is a two step process; please be sure you complete all of the instructions on this page, or the printer will NOT work!  (Shortcut to step 2)

STEP 1: INSTALL THE PRINTER

 

Download the Windows installer here:
Xerox 5325 Installer

  Click the purple "accept" button at the bottom of the screen.

This will download a file called "GSAN.Setup.exe" to your computer.  When the download is complete, double-click this file.

Click "Run," "Allow" or "Yes" at any Windows Security warning prompts.

ss-2 Click "I agree" on the license screen.
ss-3 On the printer discovery screen, click the manual address icon at top right.

In the "IP Address or DNS Name" box, type the appropriate IP address for the printer you wish to install:

  • MCLM 681: 138.26.40.231
  • MCLM 978: 138.26.40.232
  • THT 934: 138.26.40.233

Click Search.

The appropriate printer should appear in the list.  Make sure it is highlighted, and click Next.

If you are prompted for a printer model, choose "Xerox Workcentre 5325."

ss-6 Leave the default install options selected, and click Install.
ss-7 Allow the installation files to download and the process to complete.  Click the appropriate button at any Windows prompts.

At the installation complete screen, UNcheck the "Set as Default Printer" box (unless you want the copier to be your default printer) and also uncheck "Print a Test Page," as a test page will not properly print at this point.

Click Finish

  Click "Close" on the Xerox Registration screen, then click "Exit Registration."

Now, continue with step 2 below.
STEP 2: SET UP YOUR ACCOUNTING CODE
  Open your Printers list by clicking Start button >> Devices and Printers (Windows 7) or Start >> Printers and Faxes (Windows XP).

Right-click the CDIB Copier you just installed and choose "Printer Properties" (Windows 7) or "Properties" (Windows XP).

ss-9 In the Properties box, click the Configuration tab.
ss-10 In the Configuration tab, click the Accounting button at the bottom.

  • In the Accounting box, pull down the Accounting System menu and choose "Xerox Standard Accounting or Auditron."
  • For Accounting Prompt, choose "Always Prompt."
  • Uncheck the three "Mask" boxes, as this will make it simpler to enter your code.
  • In "Default User ID," enter your 6-digit copy code.
  • In "Default Account ID," enter: 5555.
  • Click OK, then OK again to close the printer properties.

When printing a document to this printer, verify that your correct 6-digit copy code is filled in under "User ID," and that the default group code "5555" appears under Account ID.

If these codes are not correct, the document will not print.
