Training & Enrichment Program

The Center for Metabolic Bone Disease has developed an active, highly visible Journal Club and External Speaker Program here at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).  Our overall objective is to provide a broad-based multidisciplinary research and training focused on metabolic bone disease to support, catalyze, and integrate clinical activities, clinical research, basic research, and education.  These seminars are intended to update participants about the most current research in bone biology and illustrate opportunities to apply this knowledge to the treatment of bone disease.

Numerous experts/speakers have visited the CMBD at UAB, given plenary lectures, and visited with scientists, clinicians, and students.  The seminars in this series are ACCME accredited by the University of Alabama School of Medicine for up to 1 hour in Category 1 credit of Continuing Education.

Beginning on September 7th, 2012, the Journal Club will meet on the first Friday of the month and the Speaker Program will meet on the third Friday of every month, each from 12:00 – 1:00 pm in SHEL 1015.
