Welcome to the Gregory Fleming James Cystic Fibrosis Research Center, where we are committed every day to understand the disease performing the most innovative research to drive the development of cutting-edge therapies that significantly improve quality of life and life expectancy of patients with Cystic Fibrosis.

With over 35 years of continuous funding from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the National Institutes of Health, our Center has an extensive breadth of expertise ranging from the development and use of CF animal models to CFTR expression technology to ion channel analysis and more. UAB also serves as one of six National Resource Centers within the Therapeutics Development Network (TDN), a nationwide network of nearly 80 cystic fibrosis clinical research centers specializing in the conduct of clinical trials to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of new CF therapies. The close interactions between scientific and clinical arms foster a unique and tremendously productive environment supporting research efforts.

It is a promising time because the development of new therapies against the basic defect allow for the development of new treatments with great promise for a cure in the not-too-distant future. I invite you to peruse the resources available through the center Cores and let us know how we can assist your research towards this goal.
