Research Description:

My primary research focus is identifying risk and protective factors for cognitive decline, functional decline, and Alzheimer’s disease in older adults. I am particularly interested in how potentially modifiable factors such as stress, “enriched” environment, exercise, diet, diabetes, and educational experiences may play a role in cognitive aging. The ultimate goals of my research are to inform intervention strategies that may delay onset of dementia and to identify those who are at greatest risk of cognitive and functional decline in order to target interventions to these individuals.
