Research Interests:

The overall theme to my research program involves eliminating racial/ethnic disparities in chronic medical conditions. Specific focus on developing interventions to decrease perceived discrimination in medical care.

Research Description:

Eliminating racial/ethnic disparities in chronic medical conditions. Current projects include examining:

  • Perceived discrimination and quality of care in African and European Americans with diabetes;
  • Developing and establishing the psychometric properties of a novel instrument to measure perceived discrimination in medical care; and
  • Socioeconomic position and perceived discrimination in African and European Americans
