UAB HealthSmart is the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s innovative health education and wellness facility working to help Birmingham area residents understand their health risk factors and make lifestyle changes that lead to a healthier lifestyle. Designed to support UAB through community outreach and to facilitate the integration of research, training, and service, UAB HealthSmart disseminates evidence-based practices, offering free preventive screenings and risk assessments and nutrition and fitness classes and counseling, Lunch and Learn talks and other health-education tools promoting the prevention of chronic diseases, and opportunities to take part in UAB research studies. UAB HealthSmart is located in the UAB Division of Preventive Medicine building in Birmingham's Southside at the corner of 18th Street and 11th Avenue South. UAB HealthSmart is open weekdays.
