Dr Baskin and the DSN full research project were featured in the NCI CRCHD newsletter

Monica Baskin, Ph.D., a project leader for the Deep South Network, an NCI Community Networks Program Center (CNPC) at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, is currently testing the efficacy of evidence-based community strategies for obesity prevention and elimination of cancer health disparities among African-American women living in the Deep South.

Sharon Lamona has been selected as the recipient of the Department of Medicine, Employee of the Month award for February 2013.

Mr. Keith Marks, Chief Administrative Officer, notified Shari today and congratulated her on receiving this honor.   Shari is an Office Associate II in the Division of Preventive Medicine.   She consistently goes above and beyond in providing outstanding support to Division faculty and often serves in a lead role in assisting new employees with training.  She has in-depth knowledge of federal grant submission policies and procedures and is a strong resource in the Division.  Shari demonstrates courtesy, respect, diplomacy and genuine kindness to all staff, external constituents and research study participants with whom she has contact on a daily basis.
