Drs Martin and Pisu have "Rhythm"

University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) researchers are conducting a pilot study of a couples ballroom dance intervention for women who are breast, colorectal, endometrial and ovarian cancer survivors, and their partners. Investigators hope to learn whether this easily accessible activity has an impact on quality of life issues following cancer, specifically physical fitness and relationship intimacy.

Congratulations to Monika Safford

Congratulations to Monika Safford, appointed first Endowed Professor in Diabetes Prevention and Control.

The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees named Monika Safford, M.D., the inaugural holder of the Endowed Professorship in Diabetes Prevention and Control at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) during its meeting April 12, 2013.

 


    
Safford, who joined UAB in 2003, is a professor in the Division of Preventative Medicine in the Department of Medicine. She is also the Assistant Dean for Continuing Medical Education in the School of Medicine.
