|
Thank you for your interest in the University of Alabama at Birmingham Emergency Medicine Residency. The training program is a fully accredited PGY 1-3 format program with a current total of 30 residents. We are currently recruiting for ten PGY-1 positions entering in July 2014. All of our positions will be filled through the NRMP spring match in March 2014. Fourth-year medical students interested in a career in emergency medicine will fill the majority of our PGY-1 positions. The remainder of our positions will be filled with applicants who have completed one or more years of training in an accredited residency program in the U.S. or Canada. This allows us to recruit a residency class with diverse backgrounds and interests The University of Alabama at Birmingham Emergency Medicine Program participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and we will not accept paper application materials. You may only apply to the UAB Emergency Medicine Program via ERAS. Information on ERAS is available at www.aamc.org/eras. Fourth-year medical students should contact their medical school dean's office for more information. If you are not currently a fourth-year U.S. medical student, contact the organizations below for more information.
The application deadline is December 1, 2013. Completed applications will be reviewed and interviews will be granted accordingly. Since the number of applications exceeds the number of interview slots, we regret that not all applicants will be invited to visit our program and interview with our faculty and residents. We suggest that you complete your application as soon as possible to improve your chances of obtaining an interview. If you have any questions or would like more information regarding our program, please contact our program coordinator, Adrienne Fowler, at (205) 934-3640.
