Omar Massoud, MD, Assistant Professor
Dr. Massoud joined UAB in fall of 2009 as an Assistant Professor of Medicine, and the Director of Clinical Liver Research for the UAB Liver Center. He holds Board certifications by both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Gastroenterology. Prior to joining UAB, Dr. Massoud was an Instructor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, and Assistant Professor of Medicine/Medical Director of GI Clinics at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Massoud has completed both an advanced Hepatology and Transplantation Fellowship (Medical College of Wisconsin) and a Fellowship in Gastroenterology (Cleveland Clinic Foundation). He has conducted lectures and presentations as well as published articles focusing on liver related diseases. His current research interests include non-invasive markers for acute cellular rejection in liver transplantation, hepatitis C, and recurrent hepatitis C in liver transplant patients.
