McGuire Brendan HR Dr. McGuire is a Professor of Medicine and the Medical Director of Liver Transplant at UAB.  He received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh and completed his fellowship training in gastroenterology at the University of Minnesota.  He is Board certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology.  Dr. McGuire is a leading expert in the medical complication of liver disease and liver transplantation and his clinical focus is on the treatment of liver related diseases, cirrhosis, and liver transplant.  Dr. McGuire is participating physician in the UAB Liver Center and actively purposes clinical research opportunities at UAB.  Dr. McGuire’s research currently focuses on the clinical management of cirrhosis in liver disease, hepatitis C relating to liver transplant, hepatitic encephalopathy, and end stage liver disease.
