Heather Simpson, MD
Dr. Heather N. Simpson, MD is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. She is board eligible for Transplant Hepatology. Dr. Simpson completed her undergraduate and medical school studies at Saint Louis University in St. Louis, MO. She then went on for her Internal Medicine training at the University of Michigan. She completed her Gastroenterology training at the Medical University of South Carolina in 2012. She then elected to pursue a year of additional training in Transplant Hepatology at the University of Michigan which she completed in 2013. She has been practicing as an Assistant Professor at UAB since September 2013. Her areas of expertise include management of all general liver diseases such as viral Hepatitis B & C, autoimmune liver disease, PBC, PSC, alcoholic liver disease, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, as well as the management of complications from cirrhosis. She has particular interest in the treatment of hepatocellular cancer, liver tumors, and liver transplantation. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and exploring the wonderful outdoor activities that the state of Alabama has to offer.
