Originally from Bibb County, Georgia, Dr. Anderson attended and received his undergraduate degree from  Emory University (B.A).   He received his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he also completed his GI fellowship training (UAB Division of Gastroenterology/Hepatology) under Basil Hirschowitz, MD, in 1986. Following the completion of his fellowship training, Dr. Anderson joined UAB as a faculty member within the Division of Gastroenterology/Hepatology, and currently serves as Clinical Professor of Medicine, and Staff Physician at the Birmingham VA Medical Center.  Dr. Anderson has previously served as the UNOS Primary Liver Transplant Physician at UAB.
