Clinic Overview The Pediatric Genetics Clinic at UAB evaluates patients from all over the region for a variety of reasons including developmental delay, birth defects, and a family history of genetic disease. You will be sent family history and developmental history forms to complete prior to your appointment. Please bring the completed forms to your appointment. Following check-in, your child with be weighed and measured. A genetic counselor will meet with you to discuss the indication for your referral and take a detailed family history. A medical geneticist will perform a physical exam on your child and discuss the findings with you. Based on the physical exam, family history, and other information, certain testing may be recommended for your child. We also may ask for permission to review your child's medical records.
