She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2002 and then fellowship training in Hematology/Oncology there in 2005. Since completing her fellowship she has been on faculty at UAB as an assistant professor where she has been quite active clinically. She also has been closely involved in clinical research, participating as subinvestigator as well as principal investigator in numerous clinical trials for treatment of gastrointestinal tumors.
