Short-Term Research Opportunities

There are many outstanding short-term opportunities for students to participate in biomedical research, clinical, and global health experiences through UAB and other institutions and agencies. The summer between the first and second years is an excellent time for students to participate in these opportunities and many are designed for students who have completed their first year of medical school. In addition, these opportunities afford students the chance to explore career opportunities available to physicians as well as providing an effective mechanism to begin to examine an area of interest for the scholarly activity conducted in the third year.

External Opportunities

Students who are interested in global health experiences during the summer are encouraged to contact the Medical Student Enrichment Program.
