OB/Gyn Clerkship Overview:


8 Week Rotation:
  • 4 Week Obstetrics:
    • 1 week Labor and Delivery
    • 1 week Maternal Emergency Unit (MEU)
    • 1 week MEU nights
    • 1 week Obstetrics clinic
  • 4 Weeks Gynecology:
    • 2 weeks Gynecology Oncology (Gold team or Green team)
  • 2 weeks Sub-specialty
    • Benign gynecology
    • Urogynecology
General Hours:
  • Lectures: Mon. mornings and Wed. afternoons
  • Rounds: Vary by rotation but always in the morning
  • Clinics: Vary by rotation

Goals of Clerkship:
  • Become familiar with the care of gravid women
  • Become familiar with the routine gynecologic care of healthy women
  • Understand screening recommendations for gynecologic cancers.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Participate in seeing patients
  • Assist with writing notes
  • Actively participate in daily rounds
  • Participate in/ assist with deliveries, procedures, and surgeries
  • Attend lectures and conferences

Note: The OB/GYN rotation has an oral exam as part of the final grade.  This is important to prepare for, as it counts towards your ability to achieve clinical honor.
