UAB is home to the largest hospital in Alabama and the 17th largest in the nation. It has always been an important focus of our University to increase international collaborations and to promote the exchange of knowledge to create and sustain relationships with physicians and scientists across the globe. The International Health Program serves that purpose well, as our international scholars eventually return to their home countries and use their UAB experience to professionally advance and become academic and medical leaders.

The International Health Program serves as a focal point for coordinating a wide range of activities in international health. These activities are expected to lead to the development of cultivated global partnerships and ultimately create transformational mutual exchange in medical and academic education, research and practice.  The primary objective of the UAB International Health Office is to develop and establish partnership opportunities to enhance the capabilities of other countries and share the latest advances in medicine and health care.
