Admission Information

To qualify for this program a student should:
  1. Be completing at least 4 semesters of college coursework on a campus
  2. Have an overall GPA of 3.2 or higher
  3. Have an ACT of 22 or above; or an MCAT of 492 or above; or SAT scores higher than 1200
  4. Be an Alabama resident
Students from rural areas are given priority in the selection process.  A maximum of 16 students will be chosen for the internship. Each student receives a stipend to cover housing, transportation and meals. 


The 2018 application period has closed. 

Important Dates

                March 2018: Applicants selected for interviews will be notified.
                March - April 2018: Applicant interviews conducted via videoconference. 
                April 2018: Notification of students accepted for HRPI.
                June 3, 2018: Arrive in Huntsville - set up housing in dormitory
                July 20, 2018: Last day of internship.
