Admission Information

To qualify for this program a student should:
  1. Be completing at least 4 semesters of college coursework
  2. Have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
  3. Have ACT or MCAT scores above 20 (or SAT scores higher than 1200)
  4. Be an Alabama resident
Students from rural areas are given priority in the selection process.  A maximum of 20 students will be chosen for the internship. Each student receives a stipend to cover housing, transportation and meals. 


UPDATE:  The 2017 application period will open in November 2016. Please check with your pre-medical advisor for application materials. You may use the on-line application process or submit a paper application.

Important Dates

                March 2017: Applicants selected for interviews will be notified.
                March - April 2017: Applicant interviews conducted via videoconference. 
                April 2017: Notification of students accepted for HRPI.
                May 30, 2017*: Arrive in Huntsville - set up housing in dormitory
                July 21, 2017*: Final Day
*This is an 8-week program; it is possible the dates may be shifted a week to June 5 - July 28, 2017.
