Research interests
His research interests focus on the influence of both biological characteristics of Chlamydia trachomatis and the human host immune-mediated responses on the clinical manifestations and outcomes of urogenital chlamydial infection. His teaching interests include the epidemiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of sexually transmitted infections. Dr. Geisler is a teaching faculty for the AL-NC STD/HIV Prevention Training Center. His clinical interests in addition to STDs, include hospital epidemiology, nosocomial infections, and antibiotic resistance. Dr. Geisler is a member of the UAB Antibiotic Stewardship Committee.
