Dr. Porter is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine and Administrative Director for the UAB Center for AIDS Research (CFAR). She received a UAB CFAR Developmental Award to investigate the expression of HIV proteins using picornaviruses as a possible vaccine vector. In her current position as Administrative Director of the UAB CFAR, Dr. Porter is responsible for management of the day-to day operations of the CFAR and the scientific direction of the programs. She also serves on the CFAR Executive Committee.
