Dr. Willig is a registered dietitian who investigates chronic disease treatment and prevention in patients with HIV and TB. Her work focuses on outcomes of nutrition and exercise interventions on inflammation and obesity risk, and the effectiveness of these interventions in preventing cardiometabolic disease. Dr. Willig also serves as the Nutritional Sciences Unit Director of the UAB Gorgas Center for Geographic Medicine, and investigates the roles of body composition, nutrition and physical activity in health outcomes for people living with HIV and TB in Zambia and Panama.
