Research Interests
Dr. Everts is Associate Director with the Alabama Drug Discovery Alliance; in that capacity she interfaces with a wide range of scientists involved in the drug discovery and development process, with a focus on projects in oncology, infectious diseases and neurodegenerative disorders. She is trained in the pharmaceutical sciences and has a broad range of publications in drug delivery, adenovirus-based targeted gene therapy as well as nanotechnology, with a focus on inflammatory disorders and oncology. Her diverse interests highlight her experience in interdisciplinary research teams. She has been involved as the liaison for UAB’s Center for Clinical and Translational Science’s drug discovery component, organizing pilot grant programs and educational opportunities in drug discovery and development. She also provided Quality Assurance for the GMP-facility on the UAB campus and is serving as the co-director for the IND/IDE consulting service that the CCTS offers to investigators on campus, highlighting her regulatory experience.
