Junior Faculty Training Program
Our pipeline continues with postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty who participate in our Health Disparities Research Training Program (HDRTP). Scholars are mentored in research training and career development and take courses on bioethics, biostatistics, epidemiology, and minority aging. There is an intensive one-week grant writing retreat during which each participant writes a grant proposal that may be submitted to an external funding agency. Scholars who complete the program requirements may be eligible to apply for $10,000 in pilot funding to start their project.
The program is sponsored by the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Comprehensive Center for Healthy Aging, the MHRC, Creighton University, Jackson State University, Morehouse School of Medicine, Tuskegee University, University of Alabama, University of South Alabama, and UAB. Additional support comes from the National Institute on Aging, the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, and the National Cancer Institute.
