About UAB and Birmingham
The department central office is located in Bevill Research Building in the midst of the School of Medicine complex in downtown Birmingham. Department faculty labs are located within close walking distance to one another within the Bevill, Shelby and CBSE research buildings. The School of Medicine has a number of research centers and cores that facilitate cross-cutting research and collaborations between basic researchers and clinicians. UAB is home to the largest hospital in Alabama and the 3rd largest public hospital in the United States, which greatly facilitates basic and translational research as well as clinical trials.
