Dear Faculty, Postdocs and Students,

Planning for the Microbiology Research Retreat is well underway and we expect that attendance will be at an all-time high because we are going to Historic Banning Mills, home of the world’s longest zipline canopy tour, in Banning, Georgia. This is a weekend event scheduled for November 11-13th. The Micro retreat has always been a wonderful opportunity for students, faculty and postdocs to focus on science and to establish new collaborations away from the distractions of everyday life. As always, the department will pay for rooms and meals with the group (this covers all meals during the retreat).

We are finalizing the agenda, but we plan on scheduling the poster session on Friday night with keynote speaker Ivaylo Ivanov on Saturday evening. Please register by September 15 and submit abstracts online by October 15. We are strongly encouraging all students and postdocs to submit abstracts, which will be selected for either poster or oral presentation. Lucrative prizes will be awarded for the best poster/oral presentations.

We look forward to seeing you at the retreat!
