The Graduate Biomedical Sciences (GBS) community at UAB encompasses approximately 440 graduate students and 350 faculty. They participate in multiple interdisciplinary thematic programs that integrate more than 25 departments and 20 research Centers in the School of Medicine, partner Schools throughout the university and Southern Research and HudsonAlpha, an affiliated drug discovery and biotechnology institutes.

How Themes Work for You

The Graduate Biomedical Sciences Office specializes in eight interdisciplinary themes that provide an enhanced scientific and professional preparation program for students aspiring toward a career in biomedical sciences. The theme approach provides each student an opportunity to work with distinguished faculty by conducting innovate research at UAB laboratories and medical facilities.
